Our "Authority" through "Christ"

As we begin this new year of 2012, we find ourselves just that much closer to HIS coming. It is very important for us to understand that we are his kids and being that, we have all the benefits that comes to those that are heirs of Gods wealth, power, hope and future.

We also must never under estimate the fact that satan also knows his time is coming to an end and he will stop at nothing to bring all the little tricks out to confuse and distort the truth.
Just as a reminder.....satan has NO POWER in any way, shape, form or fashion. He lost all the powers he had when God flung him from heaven. He has to depend on the human weakness of over analyzing and confusing what is very simple.

Hopefully the following statements will help remind us of who we are in Christ.....
Happy New Year and the blessing of God in your new year.

************************************************************************************************************
Reading Romans 8 this morning gave me a new reminder of who we are and what we have,
through Christ.

Romans 8:1 tells us exactly  who we are and how to obtain ALL that he has for us.
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

As his kids, we have all "Authority" under heaven if we utilize it to its fullness through Christ.

Matt. 28:18-And Jesus came and spoke to them saying,
All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
A definition of “Authority”
1. A power or right delegated from one person to another....
God created all things from nothing to something by just His “Authority, Power or Command”.
When Jesus was born He brought with Him all of the Powers of His Father in a fleshly form.
John 14:10
Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
Jesus did away with the Old Testament and brought in a New Testament or New Day
He is the Son of God!.
Isa 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Matthew 7:28-29
And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority (Power) at His teaching.
Power/Authority in His words.
On down to Matthew 8:5-13-Look it up in the Bible
Somehow there is an important link between the understanding of authority that Christ was showing and the faith that this centurion possessed.
This is still true today.
We pray for healing and deliverance and salvation for our families that we care about, and yet, in our modern America, it seems that prayers of this nature seldom get answers in ways that make people stop and marvel at the authority that is in the Name of Jesus.
If we truly understood the awesome power and authority that we have in Christ Jesus, we could speak with CONFIDENCE. It really doesn’t matter how much faith we have.
 Matthew 17:20
....”If you have the faith of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
A little will do if you know, that you know, when you petition God, He will not only hear you, but He will answer.....and He will answer in a mighty way when we place the full weight of Christ’s authority into the WORDS we speak from our hearts.
Colossians 2:9-10
New International Version (NIV)
9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.
He is the head over every power and authority
Another definition of “Authority”
1. A position that commands
Luke 8:27-33
  1. And when He (Jesus) stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs.
  2. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, “What have I to do with you, Jesus, the son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!”
How does the authority of Jesus make the devil feel?
Satan remembered Luke 10:18
And He said to them, I saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven
Obedience is better than talking
John 5:19 NLT
  1. So Jesus explained, "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
The reason He spoke with such authority was that He watched what His Father did and followed him.
If we watch and listen to what He says and does, we will see and know of the authority we have in Him. “
Silence is Golden”
Did you ever get the look from your father?
It is this sort of obedience that convinces me, not only of the weight of His authority but the importance of obedience.
  1. How can we speak with authority if we continue to walk in disobedience?
  2. How can we tell the mountain to move if we are not walking in obedience?
  3. How can we command the demons to leave and the sick to be made well if we are not sensitive to the Holy Spirit?
If there are issues of the HEART that must be dealt with.....you have to deal with it first.
Faith and Authority are intertwined in a strange way.
The centurion was having faith for his servant but knew the power and importance of AUTHORITY and knew that the authority was given to Jesus to just speak the words and his request would be answered.
Acts 1:8
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you”........
We can speak with authority when we are submitted unto Him and His authority. In His authority is all power/authority...Matthew 28:18
Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen
