Jesus Christ-both GOD and Human

 Mark 11:12-14
The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry.
Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to find out if it had any fruit. When He reached it, He found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.
Then He said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And His disciples heard Him say it.

This is an interesting scripture. I always wondered why He would curse this poor tree for NOT having fruit on it when it wasn't even the season and He knew it.

This is my opinion only, why He would do this to this tree and cause its demise.

I looked at this chapter, the previous and the later chapters also to see the content of how it got to this place and after He cursed the tree.

As we know, Jesus was both Man and God and He exhibited the same feelings, emotions, desires and fears that we as humans do.
MARK 10:13-14 and MARK 11:15-19

In MARK 9, He had just come from a meeting with GOD of supernatural proportion.

2After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.
3His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.
4And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
5Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah."
6(He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
7Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!"
Mark 9:2-7

He had just been through a transfiguring on the mountain with His disciples. He was constantly trying to educate them to what was happening and was to come. Jesus was ALWAYS teaching or answering questions to the RELIGIOUS group. Time was running out very quickly and I believe the human nature was getting a little stressed knowing that time was running out and they just did not seem to understand.

Mark 9:19:        He answered them, ”You faithless generation, how much longer must I be among you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him to me.“                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Mark 14:37:        He came and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, ”Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep awake one hour?

Mark 14:41:        He came a third time and said to them, ”Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? Enough! The hour has come; the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
I just believe His patients was being tried to the point of exhaustion.
In Mark 8:31, 9:30 and 10:32-34, 3 times in only 2 chapters He spoke very plainly of His death.  They still was not understanding the events that was about to take place and the impact that they were going to feel.

Mark 10:38:
But Jesus said t them, ”You do not know what you are askingAre you able to drink the cup that I drink, or be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

Let's go back to the day leading up to the event of the fig tree.

He had just made a triumphant ride into Jerusalem and fulfilled a prophesy made by Zechariah

Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation,
gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
 Zech.9:11

Jerusalem had just given Him a "KINGS" welcome.

I believe that there were a few things that happened to cause Him to react to the fig tree the way he did.
  1. He was trying to show the disciples that any "FAITH" without "FRUIT or WORKS" is dead.
  2. He was also trying to show them that being without "FRUIT" in their life, regardless of what season they was in, will result in a spiritual death. They are going to need to bear "FRUIT" all the time.
  3. He was just a little upset. His, called people, that He had given so many opportunities to, that he wanted to have a relationship with, just was not happening. They were so "RELIGIOUSLY" blinded, they were totally unaware that they was in the presence of their awaited perfect "Lamb of God"
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone them which are sent to you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not! --Matthew 23:37

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.--John 1:29

I believe He was anger that a World He created, as the Father, and He had made a great nation out, from a bunch of slaves that had been serving in Egypt, He had lowered Himself to come as a baby and given Himself to teaching them, was going to kill Him in the name of religion.
He showed His anger and His distaste for the religious leaders of that day and their total disregard of the House of God.

On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple area and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written:
“‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’cBut you have made it ‘a den of robbers.d” Mark 11:15-17

His anger not only caused Him to curse a tree for not giving Him fruit, but also caused Him to knock over tables and chairs and to run the religious leaders out of the temple.

I believe He was showing His disciples  that a man and/or Christian without a "BACKBONE" would never be able to withstand the  pressure they was going need to have to endure the next months and years. They was going to need this Holy "BACKBONE" to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world.

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”--Matthew 28:16-20

I also believe that when the Bible says we are to be like Christ, I believe it means you will have feelings of a human. You should not have fear or feel guilt when these feelings come on you. The devil would like to use these against you in able to cause you to have feelings of despair and quilt.

Eph. 4:17-32
So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.
You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
When you have these times when you feel discouraged because you feel you have failed, you have a Savior who was tempted and tried-even got angry-and he understands and forgives.
We have a friend that sticks closer than a brother that is willing and faithful to forgive. He just has guidelines that will help us to be over comers.
The Bible clearly tells us to come to him, ask for forgiveness, being baptisted in his name, and He will fill that cleaned out soul/heart with his Holy Spirit and give you the tolls to being over comers through His name. Acts 2:38
God Bless you for reading this.
